Travis Crayton is RTF’s VP of Planning and Public Policy. In his role, Travis oversees all long- and short-range planning activities and processes that touch RTP. His work includes closely coordinating with RTP’s local government partners in Durham and Wake counties, state government partners in Raleigh, and federal government partners in Washington, DC.

Travis and the RTP planning team are also responsible for administering and supporting RTP’s Owners and Tenants Association. Through this engagement, Travis works closely to build relationships and expand partnerships with RTP’s companies, as well as to identify ways to strengthen the relationship between RTP’s companies and the Triangle’s universities — a key pillar of RTF’s mission.

In his time with the Foundation, Travis has led a number of initiatives to improve RTP operations for RTP companies and to proactively plan for RTP’s future. These initiatives have included leading RTP’s advocacy to establish USPS street delivery of mail for the entirety of the Park and overseeing the RTP 3.0 planning process, which will establish a new development vision and land use regime for RTP’s next 50 years.

Prior to joining RTF in August 2021, Travis worked as a transportation planner for the U.S. Department of Transportation in Cambridge, MA, where he managed and supported transportation planning and research projects for a variety of federal agencies across the United States.

Travis is a proud triple Tar Heel, having earned his Master of City and Regional Planning, Master of Public Administration, and Bachelor of Arts degrees all from UNC Chapel Hill. Originally from Concord, NC, he now lives in Durham.
