On behalf of the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, we join in celebrating the $1.09 billion discretionary federal grant to design and build the first segment of the high-performance S-Line passenger rail to better connect North Carolina and Virginia.
This historic investment will strengthen passenger rail connectivity in our state and the Triangle region, building on decades of work designed to ease and enhance travel between urban and rural communities.
We are encouraged by the continued investment in fast, reliable passenger rail in North Carolina. This national recognition positions our state and region to continue to successfully compete for future investments, including potential passenger rail service to RTP — our region’s largest employment center.
Our team was pleased to attend the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) event at Raleigh Union Station on Monday, December 11, featuring remarks from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Congresswomen Deborah Ross and Valerie Foushee, as well as former Congressman David Price.
We are thankful to our partners, officials and state leaders who made this investment possible and look forward to working collaboratively with them to continue to enhance our region’s transportation system while better connecting North Carolinians to economic opportunity in RTP.
