The Wake County Transit plan is moving into it’s next phase of action! Over the past couple of months more than 3,900 people gave feedback on the Transit Choices Report. Now, the public opinion received has been analyzed and the planners identified the top four transit based scenarios for the Wake County area. The following four networks are being recommended at this time:

  1. High ridership-focused scenario including Rail Rapid Transit infrastructure and ridership focused bus investments.
  2. High coverage-focused scenario including Rail Rapid Transit and Commuter Rail extension investments and coverage focused bus investments.
  3. High ridership-focused scenario including corridor-based Bus Rapid Transit, some rail replicating Bus Rapid Transit, and ridership focused bus investments.
  4. High coverage-focused scenario including corridor-based Bus Rapid Transit, some rail replicating Bus Rapid Transit, and coverage focused bus investments.

Each scenario brings different pros and cons to the table, but all would be an improvement over current infrastructure. Based off the above, technical planners are currently working to expand each scenario in order to provide the community with a broader sense of what each could look like in practice. These broadened scenarios will be presented at public input sessions around Wake County, and will be formally released as part of the Enhanced Transit Choices Report. (The report will be made available after the first session on May 11th over at WakeTransit.com.)
