Smart Growth Panel Discussion
Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce
On Wednesday, November 2, former Maryland Governor and current President of Smart Growth America's Leadership Institute, Parris Glendening, will visit Durham. Governor Glendening will discuss smart growth and global competitiveness; emphasizing the role transit plays and how it can work to support increasing needs within communities of scale.
Governor Glendening will also take part in a panel discussion with Michael Goodmon (Vice President, Real Estate, Capitol Broadcasting Company), Liz Rooks, (Interim President, Research Triangle Park Foundation), Robb Teer (President, Teer Associates) and Michal Schoenfeld (Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, Duke University).
Chamber members are invited and encouraged to attend. The event will be held at the Doris Duke Center at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens (420 Anderson St.) at 9:30 a.m.
Parris N. Glendening is President of Smart Growth America’s Leadership Institute. In this role, he travels across the country and around the world advising state and local governments on smart growth, transit, and sustainability policies and practices. In recent months, he has been a keynote speaker at international conferences in Turkey, China, and Australia. He also serves as President of the Governors’ Institute on Community Design, a National Endowment for the Arts leadership initiative, administered in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Smart Growth America.
