Kevin has 35+ years experience in manufacturing and managed 3 start-up companies in the Raleligh-Durham area. He moved to Raleigh in 1994 and became president of Schunk Inc., a German start-up that manufactures ultra-precision tool holders, lathe chucks and grippers. Kevin established manufacturing for the tool holders in Cary / Morrisville (Kitty Hawk Business Park) in 1996. In 1999, he started Schmalz Inc., a German start-up that manufactures and sells vacuum lifting equipment, vacuum clamping devices and vacuum components. This company is now located off Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh. Then, in 2006, with a partner (Lee Bailey) he established ROI Machinery & Automation Inc, to offer integrated robotic automation solutions focusing on the wood industry, packaging and palletizing applications and logistics.  Today, ROI is an engineering firm located at 1534 Cher Drive in Durham that has designed and built integrated robotic work cells and / or customized equipment for various companies that include Mohawk (Columbia Flooring), Boeing, Volvo, Mack Truck, Baltimore Air Coil, Schmalz, Pentair, Dell, Menards, Frito Lay (Pepsi Co) , Valspar, Harley Davidson, Sonoco, Jowat, Evana, Valassis, Amtrak and many others.
