PRESS RELEASE by Bayer CropScience
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (June 1, 2012) – Green
thumbs and a lifelong love of learning are just a few of the fruits
Bayer CropScience hopes to cultivate in young children in the Triangle
area of North Carolina this year. Through its Making Science Make Sense®
workshop, the company hopes to help elementary school science teachers
feed the hungry minds of students with fun, hands-on science
experiments. On Thursday, June 28, the Making Science Make Sense®
workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bayer
CropScience Innovation Center at 3500 Paramount Parkway in Morrisville,
N.C.
Open to all Triangle third through fifth grade science teachers, the workshop will cover three of Bayer CropScience’s specially-designed Making Science Make Sense® experiments that participants can take back to their classrooms. Teachers will also pool their innovative science experiment ideas with one another to help students cultivate ideas and answers to the complex questions posed by the natural and agricultural worlds.
“At Bayer CropScience, we are committed not only to Making Science Make Sense®, but also to making it fun and engaging at the same time,” said Adrian Percy, VP and Head of Development North America. “Teachers will be able to grow the scientists of tomorrow by creating a better educational environment today.”
Making Science Make Sense® provides continuing
education credit to attendees, who will experience an interactive tour
of the Innovation Center. Bayer CropScience has contributed $1,000
toward the cost of DNA kits to be used during the workshop. A maximum of
30 teachers will be accepted into the program.
